Free Pixels

Hi.

I'm trying to advertise my blog on the free pixel advertising websites. I'm finding it quite difficult, but this could be because I don't have broadband. Does anyone know of any really good free pixel sites, or any other ways in which I can get more traffic to my blog.

Thanks

Planning Our Trip.

Hi.

Sorry it has been so long since I have written, but I have been busy planning the camping trip to Wales. It has grown since I last spoke about it. There were four of us now there are 11! We are going to camp near to Brecon. I have been able to book most of it on the internet. Thanks to a comment made by someone on this blog I have been able to use their ideas to make the trip into an mini adventure holiday.

We are not only going Zorbing, but also pony trekking, which I have never done before, canoeing and mountain boarding.

The canoeing trip is with Black Mountain activties http://www.blackmountain.co.uk/. It lasts about half a day and we are going down the river Wye. It says on the website that we need experience in a canoe unfortunately only two member of the group have experience. So they are going ot have to give us a crash course. Mountain boarding I did last year in Devon at a place called Big Sheep (http://www.thebigsheep.co.uk). We did it in the rain, ended up soaked through and muddy but enjoyed it.

We are all hoping that the weather get better now. Camping in the rain isn't great, but I made sure there was a pub in the site so we can get dry and play games.

I will let you know how I get on and I will take my camera so I will be able to put lots of photos up.

Crazy Day.

Hi.

I went to get the part for my car yesterday. I was at work at 11.30, so I had plenty of time. Got to the place. They had quoted me £53 plus VAT (This I have to skrimp about to find and break into my piggy bank to get).

However when I got there they said I had to pay a £30 charge because I hadn't brought my old one back. (No one told me this when I rang). Wasn't best pleased. Anyway I thought I would ring my dad (I always ring my dad when I have problem, he can solve anything), but I didn't have any credit on my phone. So I thought I would use the old fashioned way and just use a pay phone.

I found 70p by rooting around in the car and eventually found a phone box. They seem a bit sparse now days. (I once travelled back from Leicsester with a car that have no power unless it was going down hill, without seeing a phone box until I was 18 miles from home. )

Anyway couldn't get through to my dad. Then the ruddy phone stole my money. Well all but 20p and it costs 30p minimum to make a phone call.

As if this wasn't bad enough I go back to the car to go to work and the car refused to start. By the time I go it started, I was pushing it to be at work on time.

Then as I work by the seaside I was stuck in traffic for ages. I normally go the back routes to get to work.

So I arrive at work half an hour late, hot, mad and stressed. Work were ok about it, though they did knock the half an hour off my wages, which I thought was mean, but I will remember this when they ask people to voluntarily to cover extra shifts.

Anyway I'm going to try again this morning. This is why I'm up so early. Hopefully with more success that yesterday.

Bad News

Hi.

Not feeling my usual cheerful self today. My car is poorly. The starter motor isn't working so therefore I'm having trouble with getting it going. Going to fetch a part for it today. Luckly my dad is handy with fixing car so I won't have to sent it to a garage to get it fixed.

It is my day off work today. I'm on the internet looking for supply agencies. I have been putting it off, but the school start back soon and I will need to have my name down for start of term.

I will let you know how I get on.

The Railway Children.

Hi.

It was Johns birthday on the Thursday I managed to get him some caving books, toffee, socks, razors, thing which you fly around your head. I ordered some of the things off the internet. It was a bit disappointing. One of the caving books that I got him was of Dan o goff cave in Wales. I thought we would go there on holiday. As I started to read it I realised that we have all ready been. Him seen quite pleased with them though.

As a part of his birthday me, my sister, her boyfriend and John decided to go to an outdoor production of the railway children at Oxburgh Hall. We thought we would make a day of it and go into Thetford forest to look around. It was a lovely summer day and me and Dasiy were in our summer clothes. Have a lovely time.

As soon as we got to Oxburgh hall it started to split with rain. But we were prepared! Have been to an outdoor theatre before. I got changed in to trousers and put in warm winter coat on.

The first half was fantastic. Then the heavens opened. Quickly! I managed to put on the rest of the clothing which I had brought, a fleece and a rain coat. I had also brought two blankets and a water proof rug. We wore it all. I had two hats on as well.

Then John had a brain wave, he have seen some umbrellas in the lost property and he dashed out and nabbed them. We were snug as a bug in a rug. Lovely.

I felt sorry for the actors on stage in their films costumes and trying the talk above the rain. It got so bad that they were thinking of calling the whole thing off.

But the show must go on and it did. In a disused marquee and the hall grounds. All of us trooped in there. The actors continued without proper lighting, sound effects and mics.

The whole thing was brilliant and total crazy and British. The actors got an amazing cheer at the end for all they hard work.

A Job At Last

Hi.

Finally after what seems like ages I have got a job. My first day was on Monday. What a day to start on as it was stock take day. I didn't finish till 11:00pm. I enjoyed though and there are still some people there from last year so I was nice to be able to catch up with them.

I have already booked some time off from work for a little holiday. I think we are going to go camping in Wales. I enjoy camping. Last year a group of us went to Yorkshire. We had a fantastic time. We went to the highest pub in England. It was such a farce finding it. My sister had seen it on a Lap Map. This only had about four roads marked on it and the pub wasn't near any of them. Took us ages, but we got there.

Fantastic Weekend.

Hi.

I have just had a fantastic weekend. To start with I had the house to myself my Dad had gone away. So had a few friends round and played games. Went out on Saturday night. I haven't been out in ages really enjoyed it. Danced the night away.

I also found out I have got a job. It is at a holiday resort (we are not allowed to call it a camp). I've worked there before while I was at uni, money isn't great but it isn't a bad job, better than nothing. I start today, I'm in the shop. I'm still looking for a teaching job think I may join a supply agency in September. It might give me the experience I need to get a full time teaching post.

Still struggling for ideas for people's birthdays so if anyone has any ideas I would be grateful.

Fruit Brandy

Hi.

This is the receipt for fruit brandy. It is improvised from a Gin receipt so a assume you can use it with lots of different fruit and drinks.
I have apricots, oranges and cherry's. First I cut up the fruit and mashed it slighty to let the juice out. Then layered in a clean coffee jar till it was about 3/4 full. One layer of fruit and one tablespoon of sugar. Then add the brandy. I brought the cheapest brandy I could find (Tescos 1 litre £10). Leave it for three weeks. When done strain it and drink it.

The best one I made was the apricot one it was really sweet but that might be because I put more sugar in that one.

I was gone to post a picture of the brandy but I have some friendsoverr last night.

Let me know how you get on. I'm going to try bramble brandy next.

PS. I have rang up for a job at the place I worked in summer while as was at uni. Fingers crossed they will have me back.

Superman Returns.

Hi.

I went to the pictures last night to see Superman Returns.
It was a bum numbing 3 hours long though, with a lack of action, humour or romance, it seemed longer. I like the old Superman films I have to say this one is not up to scratch.

I thought the guy who played Superman was really good apparently it was his first big acting job. Kevin Spacey was an excellent Leix Luther (slightly crazy)but he didn't really get a chance to stand out as the world destroying villain due to the lack of ambition in his take control of the world plan.

The first half of the film is dedicated to the return of Superman and the fact that Lois had in this time gone off and found a new guy and had a son (She is a fast worker). The second half does get better in a hero saving people kind of way.

I hope it hasn't put you off. This my own opinion the guy I when with enjoyed it.

Shopping.

Hi.

Went shopping today. August is a month full of birthdays. I'm stuggling to find people prezzies. Struggled even more not to buy myself two pairs of shoes from Clarks and a pair of jeans from Next.

Anyone got any ideas or unusual suggestions of what to get people. They were going to get flavoured Brandy but it seems to have disappeared!

  1. Col, sister who will be 22. Likes reading childrens books and the classics. She has also just bought a camper van named DOM?
  2. Katie, sister who will be 21. She's just odd!
  3. John who will be 32. Likes caving, camping and computers. Men are always awkward to buy for.
Please help, or they'll all end up with socks!

Have to go. I'm having to cook tonight. I'm a terrible cook. I once fried gammon in lime juice thinking it was oil?

Bye
